THE CHEF

With its origins in a traditional home kitchen full of rich flavors, Eric had the dream of opening up a restaurant here for his family. His childhood friend and wife, Emica fully supported him for his love of food and respect for Japanese culture. A dream turned into reality when Natsukashii was founded in 2022.

What started as a small and humble Japanese Restaurant has grown into what it is today, completely transforming Chicago with its original inherited dishes and inviting atmosphere. With an impeccable eye for presentation and a preference for fresh and bold flavors, every single item on our menu is carefully prepared to dazzle the five senses to recreate a sense of Japan's past.

We opened Natsukashii with one goal in mind: giving our guests a unique, delicious, and unforgettable experience. Natsukashii is a Japanese word that is used for a fond memory of nostalgia and bringing it back with a smile plastered on your face. Derived from the word "Natsuku" -indicating gratitude for the past, we serve every customer with a reminder that we are fortunate for our experiences.
